Abiquiu Lake: Jordan Bartoo, age 9, of T or C, caught a 21-inch, 3-pound walleye and several others Aug. 8. He was using a crawler harness.

Bill Evans Lake: Sonia Morales of Silver City caught a 17-inch catfish August 10. She was using hot dogs.

Bluewater Lake: Sandy Harris of Albuquerque caught and released a 36-inch tiger muskie Aug. 12. She was using a rainbow trout top water lure.

Conchas Lake: Memo Nunez of Las Cruces caught and released a 6.84-pound largemouth bass Aug. 11 and a 5.48-pound largemouth Aug. 12. Gregg Price of Farmington caught and released a 5.48-pound largemouth bass Aug. 12.

Hopewell Lake: Donald Archuleta, age 8, of Espanola, caught an 18-inch, 2 3/8-pound, rainbow trout Aug. 6. He was using salmon eggs.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Jemma Bond, age 3, caught her first fish, an 18-inch rainbow trout, Aug. 12. She was using fluorescent green garlic PowerBait.

Sumner Lake: Colton Cain, age 10, of Portales, caught a 21.5-inch catfish Aug. 9. He was using chicken liver.

The following reports came in late but deserve a mention:

Cebolla River: Ava Benevidez, age 9, of Albuquerque, caught a 17-inch rainbow trout July 29. She was using worms.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Donovan Dominguez, age 6, of Albuquerque, helped his brother Deacon, age 2, catch a 16-inch rainbow trout on his first fishing trip on Aug. 4. The boys caught 8 fish total and were using PowerBait.

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Charette Lakes: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait for rainbow trout.

Cimarron River: Stream flow near the town of Cimarron on Monday morning was 18.2 cfs. Trout fishing on the river was good using worms and elk hair caddis. We had no reports from the Gravel Pit Lakes.

Clayton Lake:  Fishing was good using worms and PowerBait for trout. Fishing was fair using worms and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species. The best reports came from anglers fishing at night.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was fair using jigs, senkos, swim jigs, curly tail grubs, ned rigs, chatter baits and tubes for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was good using homemade dough bait, cut bait and chicken liver for catfish. A few white bass and walleye were caught by anglers using bottom bouncer rigs, spoons and grubs. We had no reports on other species.

Costilla Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Cowles Ponds: Fishing was good using worms, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.

Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Eagle Nest Lake: HOT SPOT FOR PERCH: Fishing was excellent using worms and small grubs for perch. Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, worms, Platte River specials tipped with PowerBait and small spoons for rainbow trout. Fishing for kokanee was slow to fair Panther Martins and Super Dupers tipped with PowerBait or corn. We had no reports on northern pike.

Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, worms, Fire Balls, Panther Martins, copper John Barrs and Pistol Petes for trout.

Fawn Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, worms, spinners and Pistol Petes for trout. Anglers using Pistol Petes were retrieving them about two feet below the surface.

Gallinas River: Fishing was fair using worms and salmon eggs for trout.

Hopewell Lake: Fishing was good using bead-head nymphs, Pistol Petes, PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout. Roger Tannen reported good fishing around the dam end of the lake this past week. He caught and released several trout while using bead-head hares ears, pheasant tails and copper John Barrs. He also reported catching a few fish while using brightly colored Pistol Petes on a medium retrieve about three feet down.

Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, Pistol Petes, ants and Panther Martins for trout.

Los Pinos River: Fishing was fair to good using worms for trout.

Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was slow for all species.

Monastery Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs, elk hair caddis and Pistol Petes for trout. Nick Hines reported catching a limit of trout August 12. He was using worms, PowerBait and salmon eggs.

Morphy Lake: Work has begun on the dam and the lake will remain closed through the end of the year.

Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 34.2 cfs. Fishing was good using small gold spinners, small emergers, bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, San Juan worms, Fire Balls, worms and PowerBait for trout.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 35.5 cfs. Trout fishing was good using mop flies, prince nymphs, copper John Barrs, worms, salmon eggs and PowerBait.

Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 151 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using mop flies, poundmeisters, elk hair caddis, Fire Balls, PowerBait and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. The best dry fly action was in the evening hours. We had no reports on other species.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 10.4 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using poundmeisters, copper John Barrs, prince nymphs and elk hair caddis for trout.

Rio Mora: Stream flow near Terrero on Monday morning was 9.38 cfs. Fishing was good using worms and Fire Balls for trout.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 3.72 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Shuree Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Springer Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Storrie Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few carp and catfish caught by anglers using PowerBait and night crawlers.

Stubblefield Lake: Fishing was fair using swim baits and curly tail grubs for largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

Ute Lake: Fishing was good using blade baits and spoons at 35 feet for white bass. Fishing was good using chicken liver, night crawlers and blood baits on rod and reel and on trot lines for catfish. Fishing was good using night crawlers for bluegill. Fishing was slow to fair using flukes, tubes, creature baits and top water lures for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing for walleye was slow. The surface water temp was in the high 70s.

Abiquiu Lake: The lake level continues to drop, and anglers should use caution when launching boats. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for launching. The Corps continues to evaluate conditions. Fishing for smallmouth bass was good during the past week but slowed some over the weekend. Anglers did best using ned rigs and senkos. A few were also caught by anglers using top water lures. Fishing was slow to fair using night crawlers and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 5.89 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, jerk baits, top water lures and swim baits for tiger muskie. Fishing for trout and catfish was slow.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes: The lakes are scheduled to reopen to fishing August 22. Mark your calendar. Should be some big trout to be caught.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 809 cfs and 456 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was good using prince nymphs, stimulators, salmon eggs and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using cut bait, homemade dough bait and chicken liver for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows, crank baits and spinners for a mixed bag of crappie, perch, white bass and northern pike. Fishing for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass was slow but a few were caught by anglers using jigs, senkos, creature baits and crank baits. We had no reports on other species.

El Vado Lake: Due to dropping water levels, the state park has closed off access to the boat ramp and use of motor boats. The lake remains open to watercraft such as canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. Bank fishing was slow to fair using tubes and craws for smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

Fenton Lake: Trout fishing from the bank was slow, but anglers did better from boats. They were using Pistol Petes, elk hair caddis, copper John Barrs and hopper patterns.

Heron Lake: An increase in the water release this past week slowed fishing dramatically. A few trout were caught by anglers fishing from the bank. They were using PowerBait. We had no other reports.

Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 8.91 cfs. Trout fishing on the upper and lower Cebolla continue to be very good using mop flies, worms, San Juan worms, copper John Barrs and stonefly nymphs. We had no reports on other streams.

Laguna del Campo: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: Fishing was slow for all species.

Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was fair using crank baits, jerk baits and top water lures for northern pike. Fishing was fair to good using drop shot rigs, chatter baits, ned rigs, tubes and curly tail grubs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. A few rainbow trout were caught by anglers trolling crank baits. Fishing was good using worms, small crank baits and curly tail grubs for perch. We had no reports on other species.

San Gregorio Lake: Trout fishing was slow with just a few trout caught by anglers using night crawlers and PowerBait. Cub Scout Pack 611 fished here this past week and managed to land a few trout. They were using PowerBait.

San Juan River: Stream flow below Navajo Lake was 846 cfs on Monday morning. Fishing was fair to good using dead chickens, Griffiths gnats, red annelids, small pupa patterns, ants, root beers and zebra midges. Through the bait waters, fishing was good using night crawlers, jerk baits, Fire Balls, PowerBait, Chernobyl ants and copper John Barrs for a mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing continued to be very good for anglers using PowerBait, worms, Fire Balls and Pistol Petes for trout.

Tingley Beach: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using hot dogs, shrimp and homemade dough bait and a few bluegill caught by anglers using worms under a bobber.

Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Alumni Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using liver, shrimp and night crawlers for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Bill Evans Lake: Fishing was fair to good using hot dogs, chicken liver and worms for catfish. Fishing for all other species was slow. Joseph Holguin reported that the catfish bite has been consistent with not much else biting.

Caballo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Elephant Butte Lake: HOT SPOT FOR WHITE BASS: Fishing was excellent using spoons, blade baits, curly tail grubs, sassy shad, top water lures and crank baits for white bass. Fishing was fair using top water lures, ned rigs, swim jigs, jerk baits and crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using liver, cut bait, shiners and shrimp for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Escondida Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using liver and night crawlers.

Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 140 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Glenwood Pond: Fishing was good using salmon eggs, PowerBait and worms for trout.

Lake Roberts: Fishing was fair chicken liver and night crawlers for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Percha Dam: Fishing was very good using liver, cut bait and worms for catfish. Fishing for all other species was slow with just a few white bass and walleye caught by anglers using worms and curly tail grubs.

Quemado Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Rancho Grande Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 875 cfs. Fishing was very good using cut bait, chicken liver, homemade dough bait and night crawlers for channel catfish. Fishing was good using minnows, sassy shad, night crawlers and curly tail grubs for a mixed bag of largemouth bass, white bass and walleye. Alicia Romero of Las Cruces caught a limit of largemouth bass while fishing below Elephant Butte Lake. She was using sassy shad. We had no reports on other species.

Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Young Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Alto Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 10.8 cfs. Fishing was slow to fair using night crawlers and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was slow for all species.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.

Bosque Redondo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: Fishing was fair to good using top water lures, worms, creature baits, crank baits, tubes and swim baits for largemouth bass and white bass. We had no reports on other species.

Carlsbad Municipal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Chaparral Park Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

El Rito Creek: Fishing was good using copper John Barrs, worms and PowerBait for trout.

Eunice Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using homemade dough bait.

Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using worms and liver. We had no reports on other species.
