Rose (Christian) Bookout, age 90, died Saturday, August 11, 2018, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 13 by Pat Podzemny, and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico Celebrated by Fr. Joel Bugas. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Rose (Christian) Bookout was born on September 17, 1927 in Clayton, New Mexico to Samuel Joseph Christian and Victoria M. (Durbin) Christian. She was raised in Union County. Rose married Clarence Bookout on May 18, 1946 in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2003. They owned and operated a house moving business for many years and she worked along side him moving houses and driving escort vehicles and she helped raise many children. She loved to travel and she loved to ride horses. After Clarence died Rose moved to Amistad to be closer to her daughter. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by a son; Jackie Bookout, 4 Sisters; Eulalee Gilbert, Irene Crisp, Pauline Leighton and Mary Christian and 2 brothers; Leland Christian, Rex Christian.

1 DAUGHTER: Helen Tompkins and her husband Howard of Amistad, New Mexico.

1 DAUGHTER-IN-LAW: Jana Bookout of Tularosa, New Mexico.

7 GRANDCHILDREN: Marla Amerson of Midland, Texas, Eugene Payne and his wife Lydia and Nira Powell and her husband Bucky all of Amistad, New Mexico, Gayla Crutchfield and her husband Brandon of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Jason Bookout of Tularosa, New Mexico, Jennifer Norton and her husband Jimmy of Alamogordo, New Mexico and John Bookout and his wife Jodi of Deming, New Mexico.

Numerous Great-Grandchildren.

1 Great-Great-Grandson: Lincoln Bookout of Tularosa, New Mexico.

1 SISTER: Nira Gross of Dalhart, Texas.

1 BROTHER: Gail Christian and his wife Lou of Amarillo, Texas.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that in Lieu of flowers, memorials be made in her memory to Union County General Hospital, 300 Wilson Street, Clayton, New Mexico 88415.
