Ferol Beckner, age 79 died Thursday, July 26, 2018, in Clayton, New Mexico.
Memorial services will be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Kenneth W. Tidmore, pastor and Terrell Jones, pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Home of Clayton.
Ferol Brown Beckner was born on December 10, 1938 in Clayton, New Mexico to Elmer Hess Beckner and Ursula (Brown) Beckner. Ferol married Glenda J. “Mickey” (Farr) Beckner on December 27, 1957 in Clayton, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on January 6, 2015. They moved to Wisconsin while he was in the Army for about two years and then returned to Clayton. They bought and ran the Frosty Bar until Ferol took a job selling life insurance and they moved to Lubbock and then returned to Clayton in 1971 where they owned and operated the insurance business. Ferol announced for the High School football and basketball games for many years. He was very involved with the Clayton Golf Course, he spent many years planting trees, taking care of the golf course and organizing golf tournaments. He loved to play golf and baseball, he played for many years on the Old Goats baseball team in Clayton. Ferol enjoyed baseball, horse racing and the Dallas Cowboys. He also sang in a group called the Cross Country Three with Bill Kirby and Taylor Stevenson and Donnie Gibbs as the organist. He loved Clayton and was always very involved in his community. The happiest time of his life was spending each day with Mickey and watching his kids play sports. In addition to his wife, Ferol was preceded in death by his parents.

1 DAUGHTER: Kelly Alsup and her husband Brian of Clayton, New Mexico.
3 SONS: Kyle Beckner and his wife Robin of Clovis, New Mexico, Coby Beckner and his wife Sharla of Clayton, New Mexico and Cory Beckner and his wife Lorie of Dalhart, Texas.
13 Grandchildren
11 Great-Grandchildren
3 BROTHERS: Weldon Beckner of Arlington, Texas, Everet Beckner and his wife Caroline of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Gary Beckner and his wife Janice of Universal City, Texas.
1 SISTER: Helen Kilburn Beckner of Amarillo, Texas.
And many nieces, nephews and cousins.

I’m so very sorry to hear of the passing of Ferol…my sincere deepest condolences to the family. I had a deep respect for this man and his wife, Mickey! I’m sure he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
