Donald Wayne Flowers was born January 1, 1936 in Canadian, TX to Travis and Alice Flowers. He attended grammar school in Perryton, Texas and completed high school at Bob Jones University in South Carolina. He served his country as an Army medic in Korea from 1959-1960 after training in San Antonio, Texas. He Married Vivian Steffen, October 10, 1959. To this union was born Veva, Makell and Trubert
Donald and Vivian farmed and ranched at Perryton, Texas and he served for many years on the Full Gospel Church board. Donald also served as an original board member of the Faith Student Center (later the Navigator Ministry Center) in Canyon Texas, resigning his position just this year, saying it was time to turn it over to a younger person. After moving to New Mexico, Donald and Vivian ranched at Mills, New Mexico and attended Mosquero Community Church.
Donald accepted Christ’s death and resurrection for redemption from sin, and trusted the Lord alone for his salvation. Donald gave his heart and life to the Lord at 9 years of age, and lived faithfully to that commitment until his death, knowing that forgiveness and eternal life rested in Christ alone, not on Donald’s own merit.
Donald’s greatest love was for his Lord, then his family, friends, and those in need. He also found great enjoyment in his horses and dogs and ranching in general.
Donald had a heart to serve others and dedicated himself to that effort until the very moment he went to be with his heavenly Father, June 17, 2018. Donald’s greatest desire was to know Christ and to make him known. Donald is survived by family and friends who will greatly miss him, but who are comforted in the hope of resurrection and a joyful reunion.
Internment will be at the Mills Cemetery Friday, June 22 at 9:00 A.M. with a memorial service following at the Mosquero high school gym at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Bruce Dass officiating.
Arrangements and celebration of love for Donald W. Flowers are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
