This fishing report, provided by Bill Dunn and the Department of Game and Fish, has been generated from the best information available from area officers and anglers. Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.
Abiquiu Lake: Brothers Tatum Lowe, age 11, and Waylon Lowe, age 9, of Albuquerque caught and released walleye June 16. They were using crawdad colored crank baits and fishing in 6 to 8 feet of water near the dam.
Bluewater Lake: David Sides of Albuquerque caught and released a 37-inch, 16-pound tiger muskie June 12. He was fishing from a kayak and using a 3-inch red and white streamer.
Cochiti Lake: Donovan Trujillo, age 9 1/2, of Albuquerque, caught 2 white bass June 17. He was fishing from shore and using minnows.
Greene Acres Lake: Jason Freeman of Clovis caught a 28-inch channel catfish June 17. He was using worms.
Lake Maloya: Abby McIvor, age 5 1/2 of Pueblo, Colorado, caught her first three rainbow trout June 14. She was using Pistol Petes.
San Juan River: Ariel Griego, age 6, of Albuquerque, helped her dad Chris land a 21-inch brown trout June 17. They were using worms.
Storrie Lake: Ramona Urioste of Las Vegas, N.M. caught a 24-inch, 4-pound carp June 11. She was using worms. Samuel Carter, age 9, of Roswell caught several nice rainbow trout June 14. He was using pink marshmallows.
Red River City Ponds: Brothers Drake Sharp, age 7, and Holt Sharp, age 5, of Lawton, Okla, caught rainbow trout at the kids pond June 13. They were using red salmon eggs.
Rio Grande River: Tom Chrobocinski of Ojo Caliente caught eight brown trout and two rainbows including this 19-inch on Friday June 15th on the Rio Grande in the John Dunn Bridge area. Luke Botkin, age 6, of Glorieta, caught a 16-inch rainbow trout June 10. He was fishing near Pilar and using PowerBait.
Timberon Ponds: Timberly Stanbrough, age 11, caught a 6-pound channel catfish June 13. She was fishing the upper pond and using corn.
Tingley Beach: Josiah Truong, age 5, of Albuquerque, caught a 24-inch channel catfish June 14. He was fishing the kids pond and using shrimp.
The following reports came in late but deserve a mention:
Bluewater Lake: Ivan Corrales of Albuquerque caught and released a 39-inch tiger muskie June 9. He was using a swim bait. Antonio Corrales of Albuquerque caught and released a 40.5-inch tiger muskie June 9. He was using a Rapala X-Rap.
Clayton Lake: Leroy Sina of Raton caught a 9.5-pound walleye June 9. He was using night crawlers. Anthony Navarette of Dalhart, Texas caught a 4.12-pound largemouth bass June 9. He was using worms.
Elephant Butte Lake: Ace Atkeisson, age 6, of Albuquerque, caught a big drum on his very first fishing trip. He was using a white Bomber crank bait.
Lake Van: Cason Salyards, age 3, of Roswell, caught his first fish, a 2-pound carp June 9. He was using stink bait.

Northeast Fishing Report
Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Charette Lakes: Fishing was good using worms and PowerBait for rainbow trout ranging in size from 11 to 21 inches.
Cimarron River: The river through Cimarron Canyon and the Gravel Pit Lakes remain closed until further notice.
Clayton Lake: Fishing was good using worms and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using night crawlers and spinners for walleye. Fishing was very good using worms, PowerBait and spoons for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Conchas Lake: Fishing was fair to good using tubes, senkos, jigs and jerk baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using sassy shad, minnows, crank baits, spoons and curly tail grubs for walleye and white bass. Fishing was good using worms and small grubs for bluegill. We had no reports on other species.
Costilla Creek: Stream flow below Costilla Dam on Monday morning was 33.6 cfs. Trout fishing was good using parachute Adams, elk hair caddis and small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs for trout.
Cowles Ponds: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.
Coyote Creek: Fishing was fair using Fire Balls and pheasant tail nymphs for trout.
Eagle Nest Lake: The lake is now open to boating. Fishing from the bank was very good using worms for perch. Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait from the bank and trolling Arnies and Panther Martins for rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species.
Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes, wooly buggers and Fire Balls for trout.
Gallinas River: Fishing was fair to good using worms and bead-head prince nymphs for trout.
Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Alice: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes, PowerBait and gold spoons for rainbow trout.
Lake Maloya: HOT SPOT FOR TROUT: Fishing was excellent using salmon peach and yellow corn PowerBait, Pistol Petes, gold spinners and spoons, elk hair caddis, copper John Barrs and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs for trout. The best fishing has been in the early morning and late evening hours.
Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, Panther Martins and Kastmasters for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Monastery Lake: The lake has been closed due to extreme fire danger.
Morphy Lake: The park has been closed due to extreme fire danger.
Pecos River: The river and its tributaries above the town of Pecos on the Santa Fe National Forest have been closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 40.8 cfs. Trout fishing was good using Fire Balls, copper John Barrs, San Juan worms, night crawlers, small spoons and PowerBait.
Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 220 cfs. Fishing was good using elk hair caddis, parachute Adams, mop flies, leeches, San Juan worms, Kastmasters, Panther Martins, Mepps spinners and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. Tom Chrobocinski of Ojo Caliente had a great day June 15. He caught and released 8 brown trout and two rainbow trout, including one nice 19-inch rainbow. He was fishing in the John Dunn Bridge area and using brown Mepps spinners.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 12.2 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 6.11 cfs. Fishing was fair using salmon eggs for trout.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Shuree Ponds: Closed for the season.
Springer Lake: Fishing was fair using Rat L Traps and streamers for northern pike. We had no reports on other species.
Storrie Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, marshmallows and Fire Balls for trout. Fishing for all other species was slow.
Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Ute Lake: HOT SPOT FOR BLUEGILL: Fishing was excellent using small plastics and worms for bluegill. Fishing for walleye and white bass was slow. Fishing was slow to fair using tubes, senkos, finesse worms and grubs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp on the main lake was in the mid to high 70s.
Northwest Fishing Report
Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was good using tubes, jerk baits, crank baits, curly tail grubs and small swim baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits and spoons for walleye. Fishing for crappie was good using small crank baits, tubes and white jigs. We had no other reports.
Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 565 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing on the Peralta and Belen Drains was slow to fair using worms and grubs for bluegill and small largemouth bass. We had no other reports.
Bluewater Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits, spoons, in-line spinners and streamers for tiger muskie. Fishing for trout and catfish was slow.
Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice.
Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 748 cfs and 849 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was fair using weighted wooly buggers, Kastmasters, night crawlers and PowerBait for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.
Cochiti Lake: Fishing was fair using minnows for white bass and small crappie. Anglers also reported catching a few white bass while using crank baits and sassy shad. Fishing was fair using top water lures, senkos, worms, salt craws and tubes for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using corn for carp. We had no other reports.
El VadoLake: Fishing was slow to fair using spinners, Pistol Petes and PowerBait for rainbow and brown trout.
Fenton Lake: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.
Heron Lake: Fishing was fair to good trolling Arnies and Panther Martins for a mixed bag of kokanee, rainbow trout and a few small lake trout. Anglers using yellow and salmon peach PowerBait also reported catching rainbow trout.
Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Jemez Waters: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.
Laguna del Campo: Fishing was fair using PowerBait for trout.
Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Farmington: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: Fishing was good using jerk baits, top water lures, tubes, crank baits, senkos, finesse worms, sweet beavers and chatter baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using swim baits, jerk baits and crank baits for northern pike. Fishing was good using worms for perch. Fishing was slow to fair trolling crank baits for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species.
San Gregorio Lake: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.
San Juan River: Stream flow was reduced to 500 cfs this past Saturday and was at 494 cfs on Monday morning. Fishing through the Quality waters was rated as very good by anglers using ant patterns, hoppers, midge clusters, red annelids, small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, mini Macs, RS2s, Griffiths gnats and foam beetles. Trout fishing through the bait waters was good using midge clusters, San Juan worms, copper John Barrs, chamois leeches, Kastmasters, jerk baits and Fire Balls.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: The pond has been closed due to extreme fire danger.
Tingley Beach: Fishing in the Central and Youth ponds was fair to good using liver, homemade dough bait, shrimp, hot dogs and worms for catfish. Fishing in the Bob Gerding Catch and Release Pond was slow. We had no other reports.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Southwest Fishing Report
Alumni Pond: Fishing was slow to fair using chicken liver and worms for catfish. We had no other reports.
Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was fair using hot dogs, cut bait and liver for catfish. The best action was reported by anglers fishing at night. We had no other reports.
Bill Evans Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Caballo Lake: Fishing was fair to good using sassy shad, curly tail grubs, small tubes and Wally Divers for white bass, walleye and crappie. Fishing was good using shrimp, blood bait, night crawlers and cut bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was good using sassy shad, spoons, crank baits and curly tail grubs for white bass. Fishing for walleye was slow to fair using sassy shad, spoons and curly tail grubs. Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was fair to good using senkos, tubes, jerk baits, top water lures, chigger craws, sweet beavers and crank baits. Fishing was good using cut bait, shrimp, minnows and liver for catfish.
Escondida Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.
Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 22.1 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Glenwood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Roberts: Fishing was fair using spoons, PowerBait and spinners for rainbow and Gila trout. We had no reports on other species.
Percha Dam: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using liver and shrimp. We had no reports on other species.

Rancho Grande Ponds: Fishing was fair using worms for catfish.
Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 1,930 cfs. Fishing was good using liver, cut bait and shrimp for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows and curly tail grubs for white bass. Fishing was fair using corn and worms for carp. We had no other reports.

Sumner Lake: Fishing for walleye was fair to good using crank baits, sassy shad, minnows and spoons. Fishing was good using jerk baits, top water lures, senkos, sweet beavers, crank baits and tubes for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. A few white bass were caught by anglers using crank baits and sassy shad. We had no other reports.
