In Loving Memory of Juanita (Gonzales) Martinez

Juanita (Gonzales) Martinez age 85, formerly of Trinidad, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at The Villas at Sunny Acres Retirement Home in Thornton, Colorado where resided for the last 13 years of her life.

She was born on March 10, 1933 to Margarita (Aragon) and Federico Gonzales in El Ojito, CO. She grew up in Branson and attended Branson School. In 1951 she was united in marriage to Ezekiel Martinez who preceded her in death in 1956. Shortly after Juanita moved to Trinidad where she resided for over 68 years and raised her 3 children. Juanita was also preceded in death by, sisters Sarah Castillo and Susana Bachicha, and brother Ernest Gonzales.

Juanita retired from the Trinidad State Nursing Home after 25 years of service and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, The Guadalupe Society and Trinidad Senior Citizens. Juanita was known for her love of music and dancing.

Juanita is survived by her son John Martinez and daughter in-law Marge of Pueblo, CO; daughter Margaret Brazile and son in-law Mike of Santa Fe, NM; and daughter Barbara Sue Baumgartner and son-in-law David of Thornton, CO. Also surviving are granddaughter Dallas Brazile-Moore and husband Jay of Alexandria, Virginia; grandson Michael Brazile of Boston, Massachusetts; grandson Angelus Espinoza of Pueblo, CO; and great granddaughter Sutton Moore of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at the Comi Chapel.

Services will be held in Trinidad on Thursday , June 21st , with Rosary at 9AM at the Comi Chapel followed by the Funeral Mass at 10AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Interment to follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Joseph Bachicha, Ralph Bachicha, Manuel Bachicha, Lawrence Bachicha, and Angelus Espinoza and Mark Montoya.

Honorary pallbearers are Sam Bachicha, Charles Bachicha and Michael Brazile.

Arrangements are under the direction of Comi Funeral Home.
