Bluewater Lake: Greg “Doc” Scargill of Santa Fe caught a 42-inch, 22-pound tiger muskie June 9. He was trolling a 7-inch flatstick. Steve Ortiz of Peralta caught and released a 36” tiger muskie June 5, using a custom tied fly.

Cochiti Lake: Michael Olson of Santa Fe caught and released a 38-inch, 15-pound northern pike June 5. He was using a crankbait. Donovan Trujillo, age 9, of Albuquerque, caught a 19.25-inch, 2-pound, 7-ounce catfish and a 12.75-inch, 15-ounce white bass June 7. He was bank fishing in the Tetilla Peak area and using minnows. Zach Stimson of Rio Rancho caught a 27.75-inch, 9-pound, 10-ounce carp June 11. He was using corn.

Elephant Butte Lake: Ruthie Chavez, age 11, of Albuquerque, caught two white bass at the same time June 9. She was using a green and yellow Bomber crankbait. Victor Rose of Las Cruces took his grandkids from Colorado fishing June 10 and they caught and released 46 white bass ranging from 1 to 3 pounds. They were trolling white curly tail grubs and Bomber crankbaits. Chase Bernal, age 16, of Los Chavez, caught a 40-inch striped bass that weighed close to 25 pounds May 25. He was using a bluegill.

Grants River Walk Pond: Donald Skilton III of Albuquerque caught a 24-inch channel catfish June 9. He was using cut bait.

Rio Pueblo: Logan Cajete, age 7, of Albuquerque, caught a limit of rainbow trout June 9. He was using salmon eggs on light weight tackle. 

Tingley Beach: Adrian Dupree, age 9, of Albuquerque, caught a 25-inch, 6-pound catfish June 7. He was using cut bait.

Young Pond: Lorraine Mondragon of Las Cruces caught a 20-inch channel catfish June 1. She was using worms.

The following reports came in late but deserve a mention:

Fenton Lake: Abbey Zamilpa, age 8, of Little Rock, Ark., caught a 19.5-inch rainbow trout June 2. She was using 4-pound test line and green garlic PowerBait with a sinking water bobber rig.

Lake Roberts: Izrael Pena, age 6, of Silver City, caught an 18-inch Gila trout June 2. He was using a spoon.

Monastery Lake: Dominic Landavazo, age 8, of Albuquerque, caught a rainbow trout estimated to be 15 to 16 inches in length June 3. He was using salmon peach PowerBait.

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Charette Lakes: Fishing was fair to good using Pistol Petes and PowerBait for rainbow trout.

Cimarron River: As of Monday, the road through Cimarron Canyon reopened to the public. We had no reports from anglers.

Clayton Lake:  Fishing was good using worms and small spinners for bluegill. Fishing was fair to good using night crawlers and spinners for walleye. Fishing was fair using spinners, crankbaits and soft plastics for largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using worms and PowerBait for trout. Fishing was good using worms and liver for catfish.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was fair to good using tubes, senkos, jigs and jerk baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using tubes, minnows, bottom bouncer night crawler rigs and curly tail grubs for walleye and white bass. Fishing was good using worms and small grubs for bluegill. Fishing was good using liver, cut bait and homemade dough bait for catfish. The surface water temperature was in the low 70s.

Costilla Creek: Stream flow below Costilla Dam on Monday morning was 81.7 cfs. Trout fishing was good using small emergers and small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs for trout 

Cowles Ponds: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Coyote Creek: Fishing was good using Fire Balls and pheasant tail nymphs for trout. 

Eagle Nest Lake: The lake is now open to boating. Fishing from the bank was very good using worms, salmon eggs and small spoons for perch. Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait from the bank and trolling Arnies for rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species.

Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Gallinas River: Fishing was fair to good using worms and bead-head prince nymphs for trout.

Hopewell Lake: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes and Panther Martins for trout.

Lake Alice: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes, PowerBait, spoons and an assortment of flies for rainbow trout.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes, gold spinners, elk hair caddis, bead-head wooly buggers and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs for trout. The best reports came from anglers fishing in the early morning and late evening hours.

Los Pinos River: Fishing was fair to good using bead-head hares ears, worms and Fire Balls for trout.

Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was good using Fire Balls, PowerBait, Panther Martins, flatfish and Kastmasters for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Monastery Lake: The lake has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Morphy Lake: The park has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Pecos River: The river and its tributaries above the town of Pecos in the Santa Fe National Forest have been closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 35.1 cfs. Trout fishing was good using Fire Balls, poundmeisters, San Juan worms, small spoons and PowerBait. 

Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 262 cfs. Fishing was good using elk hair caddis, parachute Adams, mop flies, leeches, San Juan worms, Kastmasters, Panther Martins and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 12.2 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Mora: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger. 

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 3.47 cfs. Fishing was good using emergers, copper John Barrs and salmon eggs for trout.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Shuree Ponds:  Closed for the season.

Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.  

Storrie Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Ute Lake: HOT SPOT FOR BLUEGILL. Fishing was excellent using small plastics and worms for bluegill. Fishing was good using top water lures, jerk baits, senkos and chigger craws for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using crankbaits and jig and leech combinations for walleye. Fishing for white bass was fair to good trolling crankbaits. Fishing was good using cut bait on trot lines for catfish. Fishing for crappie was slow. The surface water temp on the main lake was in the mid 70s.

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was good using tubes, jerk baits, soft swim baits, crankbaits, Rooster Tails, curly tail grubs and small swim baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using jig and grub and jig and worm combinations, crankbaits, spoons and minnows for walleye. Fishing for crappie was good using white jigs. Anglers fishing with worms reported catching several perch. We had no other reports.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 419 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using Kastmasters, PowerBait and worms for trout.

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.     

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was fair to good using crankbaits, jerk baits, spoons, in-line spinners and hot dogs for tiger muskie. Fishing for trout and catfish was slow.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice. The area may reopen later this year.

Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 733 cfs and 902 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was good using weighted wooly buggers, Kastmasters, Panther Martins, night crawlers, Fire Balls and PowerBait for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was fair using minnows for small crappie. Fishing was slow to fair using sassy shad, minnows and crankbaits for white bass. Fishing was fair using crankbaits, top water lures, senkos, worms and tubes for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows, crankbaits and swim baits for northern pike and walleye. Fishing was fair using minnows and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair to good using corn for carp. We had no other reports.

El Vado Lake: Fishing was fair using crankbaits, jerk baits, tubes, Panther Martins, swim baits and worms for smallmouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using spinners and PowerBait for rainbow and brown trout.

Fenton Lake: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Heron Lake: Fishing from the bank was fair using spinners, worms and PowerBait for rainbow trout. Fishing for all other species was slow.

Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Laguna del Campo: Fishing was fair using gold Panther Martins, worms and PowerBait for trout. 

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Manzano Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. 

Navajo Lake: Fishing was good using jerk baits, curly tail grubs, top water lures, tubes, crankbaits and chatter baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using swim baits, spinner baits, jerk baits and crankbaits for northern pike. Fishing was fair trolling crankbaits for brown and rainbow trout. A few rainbow trout were also caught by anglers using PowerBait and marshmallows. Fishing was good using worms for perch. We had no reports on other species.

San Gregorio Lake: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

San Juan River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 627 cfs. Fishing through the Quality waters was good using small red annelids, small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, fore and afts, RS2s, ant patterns, Griffiths gnats, Chernobyl ants, hoppers and foam beetles. Trout fishing through the bait waters was good using jerk baits, Kastmasters, San Juan worms, copper John Barrs, chamois leeches and Fire Balls.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: The pond has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Tingley Beach: Fishing in the Central and Youth ponds was good using liver, homemade dough bait, cut bait, shrimp, hot dogs and worms for catfish. Fishing in the Bob Gerding Catch and Release Pond was slow. We had no other reports.

Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Alto Lake: Fishing was good using worms, liver and hot dogs for catfish. Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and Pistol Petes for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 3.37 cfs. Fishing was slow for all species.

Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was fair using liver, worms and hot dogs for catfish.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. The lake is scheduled to reopen in August 2018.

Bosque Redondo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: Fishing was fair to good using crankbaits, spoons, sassy shad, tubes and curly tail grubs for white bass. Fishing was fair using jerk baits, crankbaits, senkos and tubes for largemouth. We have no reports on other species.

Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was good using PowerBait and small spinners for rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species.

Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was fair to good using hot dogs, worms and liver for catfish. We had no other reports.

Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday morning was 89.9 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Perch Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, liver and hot dogs for catfish. We had no other reports.

Ruidoso River: Stream flow on Monday morning at Hollywood was 3.37 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was good using jerk baits, crankbaits, Robo worms, tubes, senkos, chatter baits and top water lures for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair using minnows, sassy shad and crankbaits for walleye. We had no reports on other species.

Sumner Lake: Fishing for walleye was good using crankbaits, sassy shad, minnows and jig and night crawler combinations. Fishing was good using jerk baits, top water lures, senkos, crankbaits and tubes for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair trolling crankbaits for white bass. We had no other reports.

Alumni Pond: Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver and worms for catfish. We had no other reports.

Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was fair using hot dogs, cut bait and liver for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait, wooly buggers and Pistol Petes for trout. We had no other reports.

Bill Evans Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Caballo Lake: Fishing was good using sassy shad, curly tail grubs, minnows, Flicker Shad and Wally Divers for white bass, walleye and crappie. Fishing was very good using liver, blood bait, night crawlers and cut bait for catfish. We had no other reports.

Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was very good using sassy shad, minnows, crankbaits, jerk baits, curly tail grubs and spoons for white bass. Fishing for walleye was fair using minnows, sassy shad, spoons, curly tail grubs and crankbaits. Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was fair to good using senkos, tubes, jerk baits, top water lures, chigger craws and crankbaits. Fishing was good using cut bait, shrimp, minnows and liver for catfish.

Escondida Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 10.1 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Glenwood Pond: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.

Lake Roberts: Fishing was fair to good using spoons, PowerBait and spinners for rainbow and Gila trout. A few catfish were caught by anglers fishing at night and using liver, homemade dough bait and shrimp.

Percha Dam: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Quemado Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using jerk baits and spinner baits for tiger muskie. We had no reports on other species.

Rancho Grande Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 1,860 cfs. Fishing was good using liver, homemade dough bait, cut bait and shrimp for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows and curly tail grubs for walleye and white bass. Fishing was fair using corn and worms for carp. We had no other reports.

Snow Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.
