In Loving Memory of Pauline Marie Stilinovich

Pauline Marie Stilinovich, 88, passed away December 21, 2017 at Colfax Long Term Care in Springer, New Mexico.

She was born September 19, 1929 to Marko and Elsie (Garzina) Vuicich in Van Houten, New Mexico.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tony Stilinovich, her sister Christine Vuicich, and her brothers Pete Vuicich, Chris Vuicich, and Vern Vuicich.

Pauline was united in marriage to Tony Stilinovich on November 27, 1948 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Raton.

Pauline’s early education was acquired in the Van Houten coal camp. After completing the eighth grade, she rode a school bus from Van Houten into Raton to attend high school. She was a 1947 graduate of Raton High School.

During her lifetime Pauline worked as a sales person for Crowe’s Gift Shop and Yardstick Fabrics and Notions. She was a clerk at the Sears Store for many years, working in sales and providing customer assistance for catalog orders.

At the time of her death Pauline was a member of St. Patrick-St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also active in several other organizations including Sorosis Club, and the Raton Elks Lodge # 865 Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Miners Colfax Medical Center Auxiliary, donating hundreds of hours of her time over a span of twenty-seven years.

Pauline will be remembered as an exemplary homemaker She was a meticulous housekeeper and cooked tasty, nutritious meals for her family. She especially delighted in baking desserts reflecting her Slavish heritage, such as potica and strudel. In her spare time Pauline enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, walking, and the exercise class for goldenagers at the Methodist Church.

Pauline loved working with people. In her employment outside the home she was a dedicated employee who was efficient, organized, friendly, and helpful.

Pauline cherished her Catholic faith, praying the Rosary daily, and attending Mass faithfully She was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother.

Pauline is survived by her son, Glenn Stilinovich, of Raton; daughter, Betty (Jack) Albright, of Weatherford, OK; sister, Violet Fanelli, of Raton; brother, Sava (Darlene) Vuicich, of Casa Grande, AZ; grandchildren Tyler (Shannon) Albright and Jamie Albright (Sam Stout); and great-grandchildren Noah and Keira. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive, as well as a special friend, Helen Adams.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary for Pauline will be led by Jeannette Green at 10:00 am on Friday, May 25, 2018 at St. Patrick-St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 am with Rev. William Woytavich as the celebrant.

Inurnment, with the Rite of Committal, will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery immediately after the service.

The family respectfully requests the omission of food and flowers. Donations in Pauline’s memory may be made to Mt. Calvary Cemetery or the Miners Colfax Medical Center Auxiliary.

Arrangements and celebration of love for Pauline Stilinovich are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
