13 students from Raton High School were inducted as new members of the National Honor Society in a ceremony held at the Shuler Theatre on April 18, 2018. Members were selected for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Students inducted were:
Jennifer Acosta, Ginger Baird, Rhianna Hopper, Justine Mascarenas, M. Alejandra Murcia, Melinda Murcia, Marshall Oldroyd, Nevaeh Ortiz, Stacie Patterson, Tori-Anne Platero, Jaydon Romero, Aliyah Samora, and Laynee Segura
“We are very proud to recognize these outstanding members of Raton High School. National Honor Society members are chosen for and then expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community,“ said Mrs. Lynette Simpson, chapter adviser.
The Raton High School chapter has been active since 1932. Each year the chapter sponsors several service projects for the school and community. The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students. Chapters exist in more than 15,000 schools and since 1921 millions of students have been selected for membership. This national student recognition organization is proudly sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
Class of 2018 Seniors were also recognized: Autumn Archuleta, Brittany Fleming, Richard Gonzales, Brianna Marquez, Gabriel Martinez, Halle Medina, Camryn Mileta, Natausha Ortega, Sydni Silva, Camryn Stoecker, and Sarah Valdez.
