The 6:00 a.m. big bang that was heard over parts of Raton Tuesday morning signaled the breach of a residence at 641 Galisteo by Raton Police and NM State Police tactical unit to conduct a search for and arrest of Max Ortega, III, age 47 who was wanted in connection with a narcotics investigation.
The Tactical Team breached the residence and arrested Ortega without incident. According to Raton Police Chief John Garcia the residence was only occupied by Ortega and his girlfriend. His girlfriend was later transported to MCMC to be checked out. Ortega was taken to the Vigil Maldonado Detention Center and charged with four counts of trafficking controlled substances, four counts of possession of a controlled substance, four counts of tampering with evidence and use or possession of drug paraphernalia according to the criminal complaint filed in the 8th Judicial District Court.
According to the criminal complaint the alleged sale of herion took place between March 24, and March 29, 2018.
