Cleo Frances Perea was at home when she went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2018 at the age of 99. She was born in Trinidad, Colorado on March 9, 1919 to the late Frank and Irene Martinez. Cleo was a loving devoted mother, grandmother and friend whom opened her heart and, for many, her home over the years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, which often included watching the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. After Cleo raised her children she returned to school to get her GED in 1970. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren when she continued her education and graduated with an Associates of Arts degree from Trinidad State Junior College in May of 1973 at the age of 52 and worked as a bilingual teacher until her retirement.
Cleo is survived by her children, John (Hannalore) Perea , Frances Cortez, Geraldine Bernal, Linda Archuleta, Larry Richard (Mona) Perea, Anthony (Bernadette) Perea, Anna Mae (Gilbert) Torres, Anna Marie Vasquez, Adrian Perea, Joseph (Sandra) Perea, Leroy (Anna) Perea, Arthur Perea, her brother Jim (Frances) Martinez, and her 31 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-laws Luther Archuleta, Luis Cortez, Leonard Vasquez and daughter-in-law Abigail Perea, her brother Arthur, and sisters Laura, Alda, Lillian, Priscilla, and Jennie.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 3rd from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the Comi Funeral Home located at 1804 E Main St. The rosary will be Tuesday, April 3rd at 7:00 PM at Holy Trinity located at 235 N. Convent St.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 4th at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity. Internment will be at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery following the Mass.
