Letha Emmagene Caldwell, 89, of Trinchera, was called home by our Lord and Savior on March 18, 2018. “Gene” passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Dovie Boyd; and brother, Eugene Boyd. She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 65 years, Chandler Caldwell; her children, Jeff (Corita) Caldwell, Jennifer Caldwell, Jeannine Caldwell and Jason (Sarah) Caldwell; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special niece, Carolyn Marie Boyd-Guzman; her special little dog, Precious; and numerous dear friends whom she considered family.
Gene was very involved in community events, and was awarded the Farm Homemaker Award for her “Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Rural Life in Colorado.” She also was an original organizer of the Branson-Trinchera Hiking Club. She thoroughly enjoyed learning, as well as sharing her wealth of knowledge with others about historic sites and events in Southern Colorado. Gene was a strong, independent woman who truly had a zest for life, with a heart of gold to everyone she knew. She will be greatly missed by many.
May Gene’s memory live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. There will be no public services. Condolences may be sent to the Caldwell family at Comi Funeral Home.
Joyce and I send condolences to all of your family.
