Angélica Flynn del Rio passed away on March 19, 2018 after a long chronic illness. She was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico on January 5, 1955. Angélica was a graduate of Highlands University, with a Masters degree in Social Work. A long-time employee of the New Mexico Boys School, she also provided counseling and mental health management services in the Raton and Clayton areas. Angélica was proud of her ethnic background and was fluent in both Spanish and English, and often worked as a translator for the poor and disenfranchised. Angélica loved and treasured Northeast New Mexico and its residents. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith.
She was the daughter of John W. “Jack” Flynn and Mariana Valladolid del Rio Flynn. Angélica leaves behind her son Antonio Plemons (wife Nora, sons Alejandro and Johnny) of Phoenix, Arizona and her daughter Amanda del Rio Flynn (daughter Mickaela, son A. J., granddaughters Mandi and Amelya and grandsons Connor and Javier) of Ft. Worth, Texas. She is survived by her brothers Bernard Flynn (daughter Anita) of Rio Rancho and Don and Christalina Flynn (son Austin of Denver) of Maxwell, New Mexico. She was predeceased by her brother Blue Freedom (son Aaron of Pittsburgh, daughters Azul of Albuquerque and Jazzmine (Heath Bullock) of Taos.)
A memorial service will be held this Sunday, March 25th at 4 pm at the Best Western at 201 W Loop 820 N Fort Worth Texas 76108. In a year, a commemorative memorial service will be held in Santa Fe.
Angelica! You were always a Blessing to everyone you met. You will be greatly missed. May the Peace and Blessing of Our Lord Jesus be upon you and may you rest in peace.
