Dennis Michael Malone, Esquire, was welcomed home in Heaven by his parents Mary and Don Malone, on March 10, 2018. He was 70.
He was born in Ithaca, New York, on December 8, 1947, and grew up in Fort Morgan, Colorado , where he graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1965.
He was a graduate of Colorado College in 1969 and during that time was a linebacker for the CC Tigers. In 1972, Dennis graduated from the University of Colorado Law School.
Dennis began practicing law in Trinidad in 1973. He loved his community and was always a champion for the less fortunate.
On December 5, 1992, Dennis was united in marriage to Karen K. Schreiner, at Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Dennis was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, the Colorado Bar Association, Past President of the Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and past board member of Noah’s Ark.
He was a kind soul and loved animals. Over the years, Dennis made many friends and he cherished his annual trip with his high school buddies, a tradition that he enjoyed for the past 10 years. Dennis had a great sense of humor and people loved his story telling and jokes.
His family, friends and community will truly miss him.
He is survived by wife Karen of home address, children Patrick (Dawn Madura-Malone) Malone, Washington, D.C., Brant Schreiner, Brittney Schreiner ( David Fisher), grandchildren Cortney Malone, Clio Malone, Silas Malone, sisters Merrily Dethier, Virginia Beach, VA, Peggy (Gaylon) Edson , Ft. Morgan, CO, mother and father in law Sheryl and Tom Augustine, Pueblo, CO, sisters and brothers in law, LaDona Horton (Kurt Sittner), Torrington, WY, Rick (Kathy Brinks) Augustine, Kingston, NH, and numerous nieces and nephews
Also surviving are his many friends, colleagues and office staff, Geraldine Trujillo, Tonine Maniscalco and Jennifer Swartwood.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 3PM-7PM at the Comi Chapel, 1804 E. Main Street, Trinidad, CO 81082
Celebration of Life will be Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11AM at the First Christian Church with Pastor Cary Nelson officiating.
Active pallbearers are Gaylon Edson, Andy Edson, Louie Apodaca, Jim Montoya, David Santistevan and Tyler Maniscalco.
Following services, cremation with private family inurnment at a later date.
Persons wishing to do so may make contributions in Dennis’s memory to the charity of their choice.
