Ricky Van Jones age 68, passed away on Friday March 2nd, 2018. Ricky was born to Billy J. Jones and Owita Hesler Jones in Roswell, NM. Rick was a man of God. He was a Royal Commander for the Boys of First Assembly of God. He retired from the City of Raton and was a truck driver. He was also a retired Coal Miner UMWA 7949 in Raton, NM and UMWA 719 in Berry, Alabama. He also worked in the Potash 
Mines in Carlsbad, NM and a gold Mine in Elko, Nevada.
He love spending time with his family, going to rendezvous and listing to blue grass music, watching old movies, reading western books, crafting, beading, working with leather, making knives and guns and building motorcycles and riding them as he was also a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He and his wife Stephanie had just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Valentines, Day. Rick was a great father and grandpa. Rick was also known for his jokes and funny stories, he will always be loved and greatly missed by all.
Rick is proceeded in death by his parents Billy J, Jones and Owita Hasler, brothers; Donnie and Jay Jones and one step daughter Vickie Ledoux, Father and Mother in-law Marcos and Susana Jiron, Brothers in-law Marcos Jiron Jr., John Jiron, Jessie Jiron. Sister in-law Frances Marquez.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Stephanie (Fannie) Jones of the family home. Step daughters; Frances and husband Robert Armijo of Raton, Debra Prince, Stella Valentine and companion Mickey Cordova, Sandra Romero, Nancy Sanchez and husband Luis, Rebecca Romero, Nancy Jones Armijo and Husband Robert, Step-son John Romero. Brothers- in-law Fidel (Candis) Jiron, Abel Jiron, Sisters- in-law; Della Horner and Mae Fanelli, Step-Mother -in-law Mary Jiron, Step Brothers-in-law Jerry (Jessica) Jiron, Step Sisters-in-law Lillian Barela, Sharon and Marcella, Step Brothers-in-law Charles and Mike Barela. Grand Children, Great Grand Children, numerous nephew and nieces also survive.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home in Raton with Pastor Wilford Carrasco officiating. Rite and committal and internment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
