Henry J. Fanelli, age 80, of Raton, passed away on March 1, 2018 in Raton. N.M. He was born April 19,1937 in Sugarite, N.M., the son of Vinenzo and Viola Colangelo Fanelli. He was a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton. Henry served in the 101st Airborn Division of the United States Army and was a member of the Honor Guard at West Point in New York.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tony, Bill and Jim Fanelli and two infant brothers, and one great grandson Jaius Paul Valdez. Henry is survived by his wife Shelly of the home, four daughters, Pamela Fanelli and husband Robert Fowlie of Albuquerque, NM, Brenda Armijo and husband John of Raton, Becky Mendez and husband Joe of Albuquerque, NM and Christy Romero of Springer, NM. Two sons Severo Romero of Pueblo, CO. and Henry J. Fanelli Jr. of Raton. Also surviving is his sister Kathleen Johnson of Mission Viejo, CA, two brothers, Leonard Fanelli and wife Cathy of West Babylon, NY, and Johnny Colangelo and wife Loretta of Battle Ground, WA. Twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members along with a host of friends.
Visitation will be Monday March 5, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Tuesday March 6, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Mass of the resurrection will follow at 10:30 with Father John Brasher as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Raton.
Services and celebration of love for Henry J. Fanelli are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
