Jesus Acosta-Dominguez(39) was arrested by Raton Police February 26, 2018 for shooting at an inhabited dwelling in the 600 block of East 4th Street across from Longfellow School on February 20, 2018 at about 10:50 p.m.
Dominguez was charged with one count of Assualt with Intent to commit a violent felony (with Intent to commit Murder) one count of Shooting at an inhabited dwelling or occupied building, four counts of aggravated assault (use of a deadly weapon) and one count of tampering with evidence.
According to court records Dominguez had been in an argument with his girlfriend earlier that day. According to his girlfriend Dominguez found phone numbers on her cellphone that he believed to belong to a person that Dominguez felt was having an affair with his girlfriend.
Dominguez then drove to the residence on East 4th Street and took up a position on the hill north of the residence where the law enforcement memorial sits. He then fired several rounds from an AK-47 style rifle into the residence which was occupied by four people, fortunately none were injured in the incident.
Dominguez was arraigned in Magistrate Court and released to the custody of a third party and will be fitted with an ankle monitoring device. All weapons must be removed from his residence and not to have contact with the victims or to be within 100 feet of any school. He will also submit to a mental health evaluation within 72 hours of release. Dominguez is to report to Magistrate Court on April 2, 2018 for a Preliminary Examination before Magistrate Judge Warren Walton.
