Teresa Elizabeth Jones, age 65 of Raton, passed away Monday February 12, 2018 in Santa Fe, NM. She was born February 23, 1952 in Raton, NM, the daughter of Arthur and Anna M. Zeppa-Iacobelli. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Arthur Iacobelli Jr., Eugene Iacobelli, David Iacobelli, and Joseph Iacobelli. Teresa is survived by her husband Ronald D. Jones of the home, son Gregory A. Jones and wife Laurel of Pueblo West, CO, sisters, Carol Williams and husband Doug of Ft. Collins, CO, niece Ann Marie Baker of Fort Collins, Janet Hamilton of Longmont, CO, and nephew Ron Iacobelli and wife Janet of Raton. Brother in-law Gary Jones and wife Marilyn of Springer, NM, nieces Karen McCutcheon of Rio Rancho, NM, and Leslie Bates and husband Mike of Tejeras, NM.
Teresa attended St. Patrick’s Catholic school from kindergarten to 8th grade, and graduated from Raton High School in 1970. She loved working at La Mesa Park in the summer. She received her associates degree from Trinidad State Junior College. Teresa worked for Dr. John Robertson DDS, Raton Public Service, Raton Natural Gas, and was a substitute teacher for the Raton Schools. Teresa married her husband of 44 years, Ronald D. Jones, in 1974. They had their son Gregory in 1978. While her son was growing up she dedicated herself to being a great mother and homemaker.
Teresa loved to travel with her husband and son, and they made many enjoyable trips together. Teresa loved to paint pictures of beautiful landscapes in NM. She also enjoyed ceramics, knitting, taking photos, her computer, carrying on a good conversation, playing Jeopardy with her husband and son, trying new activities, and laughing with family and friends.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Tuesday February 20, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton recited by Frank Cimino Jr. Mass of the resurrection will follow at 10:30 with Father William Woytavich as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Raton.
