Lawrence (Larry) Vezzani, passed away on January 29, 2018, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Rouse, Colorado on July 9, 1939 to Jennie and Max Vezzani.
Larry was preceded in death by parents Jennie and Max, sister and brother in law, Mary and Matt Vigna, brother in law Frank Quartiero an infant brother Charles Vezzani.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Justine (June) Vezzani, daughter Philomena (Frank) Coppa, sons Darryl and Shawn Vezzani, granddaughter, Vanessa (Leland) Gulley. (Vanessa lovingly cared for her Papa all during his illness) great grandson Trevor Gulley, who he affectionately called “Billy Bob”, and not day went by he didn’t want to know how Trevor was doing.
Also survived by his sister Clara Quartiero of Pryor, brothers Louis(Evelyn) Vezzani of Walsenburg, Lindo (Sharron) Vezzani of Pueblo, Max (Sharon) Vezzani of Pryor, sister in law Cynthia Christy of Trinidad and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry dropped out of school his Junior year but did get his GED. He went on to become a well known licensed Master Electrician in the State of Colorado.
Larry was in the Army Reserve for 6 years receiving an Honorable Discharge. While on leave, he met the love of his life Justine (June) Paulovich at a dance in Rouse, Colorado. Larry and June were married at St. Anthony’s.
Parish in Aguilar by Father Doyle on February 15, 1958. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 15, 2018.
Larry worked at CF&I Steel for 10 years and then went to work at San Isabel Electric for a few years. He went on afterwards to Trinidad State Junior College where he was head of the Electrical Dept. and Maintenance Foreman for 26 years. He served on the Archeology Board of Trinidad State Jr. College as well as several other committees. He served 8 years on the Aguilar Board of Education.
At his request, cremation with memorial services to be held.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday April 28, 2018 in Aguilar, CO. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rosary at 9:30AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 10AM
Inurnment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Restoration Fund in Larry’s memory.
