The Raton varsity girls took to the court on Saturday, January 20th as one of four district games at Tiger gym including the JVs. Down by three the Lady Tigers continued to battle but and stay close going into half time down by six.
The third quarter was the Lady Tiger’s undoing as Pecos put on the pressure and a very aggressive style of play forced the turnovers and missed shots. Pecos outscored Raton 22 to seven in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. The Lady Panthers continued to force the turnovers which often times resulted in points. The JV girls took to the court first Saturday afternoon and had the best game of the day for Raton as they came from behind and ended the game down by one.
The Lady Tigers trailed all the of the game at times by as much as 12 points but they continued to work at and in the fourth quarter began to close the gap on the Lady Panthers. With a little pressure and some good shooting it came down to the end as the last shot up brought Raton to within one. The final buzzer sounded to end the game as ball was airborne but fell short had the shot made it in Raton would have won the game.
