After a dismal game against Tucumcari that saw a scoreless first half by the Tigers (final 54-13), Raton came on strong in the second half to redeem their previous misfortune and put a mark in the win column over the Peñasco Panthers Tuesday evening in Tiger Gym.
The JV team also made amends as they came out with a win over the Panthers in strong fourth quarter finish Tuesday evening. Raton took the early lead and kept moving forward outscoring Peñasco in three of the four quarters to take a 70-38 win.
The varsity team however started out a little slower keeping the game close in the first half and going into the locker room at half down by two. Third quarter action however Raton outscore Peñasco two to one as they put in 34 points to the Panthers 17. Aden Vanderwater put in 11 while Gabe Martinez knocked down eight.
The fourth quarter however went the other way with Peñasco outscoring Raton 19-10 to tighten up the score before the final buzzer sounded.
