Raymond Vigil, age 80, passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 4th, 2017 in Raton, New Mexico. He was born on September 10th, 1937 in Garita, New Mexico to the late Agapito Vigil and Dorotea Benavidez-Vigil. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Delia Vigil, his daughter Alice Aileen Lovato, his son Patrick Raymond Lovato and his granddaughter Krystle Sheree Lovato of Raton, New Mexico. Also surviving him are is brothers, Joe Gomez and wife Isabel of Santa Rosa, Rudy Vigil and his late wife Dodi of Albuquerque, Steve Vigil of Santa Rosa, his loving brother Tito Vigil and wife Cathy of Fort Sumner who he loved and admired with all his heart, his nephew Pat Vigil of Alamogordo, who was raised like his brother, Fedelia Grooms and her late husband AG of Tucumcari, Angie Quintana and her late husband Merenciano of Alamogordo, Virginia Campos and her late husband Mayo of Santa Rosa, Isabel Apodaca and husband Larry of Santa Rosa, Bertha Barrett and her late husband David of West Virginia and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Raymond was a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico and dedicated his life to working for San Miguel County as a heavy equipment operator for the road department. He loved working with heavy equipment, being a mechanic, working on the family ranch, listening and dancing to his rancheras. The family appreciates the care and services of Robin Piley. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on Monday, December 11th, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick-St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raton, NM. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick-St., Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton, NM. Recited by Father Bill Woyatvich. Immediately following the Mass there will be a dinner at the Parish Hall to celebrate Raymond’s life. Interment will be on December 12th, 2017 at the Medina Family Ranch in Mes, NM.
