Selma Gutierrez age 81 of Raton, passed away Wednesday September 20, 2017 in Springer, NM. She was born April 21, 1936 in Brilliant, NM, the daughter of Giel and Laura Ortiz-Salazar. She was a retired county treasurer and a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Selma is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Gutierrez, parents, Giel and Laura Salazae, Brothers, Giel Salazar Jr. and Eloy Salazar, and sister Beatrice Cordova. She is survived by two daughters, Debra K. Ridenour and husband Isaac of Raton, and Sharon Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM. One brother, Charles Salazar and wife Anita of Merrita, CA. Three sisters, Nora Lucero of San Pedro, CA, Priscilla Lincoln and husband Chad of Tenino,Washington and Frieda Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah, One grandson Jesse Ridenour and wife Amy, two granddaughters, Maria Ferri and husband Jon, and Melissa Sanchez- and wife Barbara. Great Grandchildren, Reyna Sanchez, Shawn Ridenour, and wife Naomi, Emily Ridenour, Kimberly Sanchez, CJ Ferri, Katie Ridenour, Jacob Ferri and numerous beloved nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Thursday September 28, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Friday September 29, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patricks-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by Frank Cimino Jr. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 A.M. with Father William Woytavich as the celebrant. Rite of Christian Burial will be at a later date.
There will be a reception following the service at the United Methodist Church in Raton.
Arrangements and celebration of love for Selma Gutierrez are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
