The Lady Tigers continued the winning streak over Trinidad as they took the volleyball match in three games Saturday afternoon to add to the victory the boys put in Friday night against Trinidad.
The Raton c-team however dropped both of their games to Trinidad Saturday morning in Tiger Gym as the young team struggled with controlling the ball and getting it over the net.
The JV girls with game experience from the last three or four years of playing together took early leads in each game and held on to wins in both.
The varsity girls took to the court and in game one Raton fell behind but soon gained their rhythm and came back from a four point deficit to tie the game at 14. It went back and fourth from there until Raton finally pulled out in front and went on to win the game. The girls struggled with their spikes over the net sending many out of bounds. The Lady Miners capitalized on that early one but soon they too struggled with the spikes and keeping the ball in bounds.
Game two Raton took an early lead and expanded it but soon hit a snag and allowed the Lady Miners to come back to within a point. It was a struggle as both teams managed to get the first volley past the other. Raton however prevailed and won the second game by six.
Game three once again saw Raton take the quick early lead and stretch it out to as many as six before Trinidad worked back in close with extended volleys. Finally Raton managed to find the groove and took the lead for good to win by four.
