Martha L. Phelps, age 74, of Raton, New Mexico passed away on July 26, 2017.
Services for Martha L. Phelps will be on Saturday July 29, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Presbyterian Church in Raton, New Mexico.

When I lived in Raton in the early ’80s Martha and I became friends. We worked at the same bank. I remember our lunches so well. Martha was always fun to be around, very smart and a true delight. She and Jim gave me my one-and-only experience water skiing. We saw each other a couple of times after I moved away but not for the last decade or so sadly. We may have lost touch but I’ve never forgotten her. My deepest sympathy to Jim and her family.
Martha was an amazing and cheerful person. Each time I saw her, she always wanted to tell the story that her “maiden” name was Carson…like my married name. Her loving and gentle spirit touched the hearts of all of us who knew her and spent time with her. She never let us see her health struggle…she was strong and will be missed in the beautiful city that she called home, Raton. She was a sparkle that will be missed by all of us.
