Alfred J. Vigil age 69, passed away on June 1, 2017 at home in Springer, NM.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents Juan J. Vigil and Feloniz Vigil and recently a brother, Steve Vigil.
His son, Joe Wayne Vigil, of Amarillo, Texas; daughter, Pamela Winkler and 5 grandchildren, Cassidy, Antonio, Cierra, Addisyn, and Jackson, of Laona, Wisconsin, survive Alfred. His brothers and sisters also survive him: Mary Lou Peterson (Jeff), Kenny Vigil, Janet Murdoch, Susan Vigil, Peggy Walton, Michael Vigil (Mindy), and Karl Vigil (Kelly) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Alfred served in the National Guard and thereafter, devoted his life to the ranching and horse-training life, was a correctional officer, a hunting guide, security guard at the St. James Hotel/Express Ranches. His years in the saddle included working at many of the area ranches; the T.O. ranch, Vermejo, WS, Diamond A, CS, and Red River Ranch, among a few. More than anything, Alfred was a caring and compassionate brother, friend, uncle, and father.
Services for Alfred include a visitation at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home in Raton, NM on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 for family from 4-5 P.M. and for the public from 5-6 P.M. Rosary and Funeral services will be held in Wagon Mound at the Santa Clara Parish on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 beginning at 9:30 A.M.
