He was born on February 20, 1928 to Manuel and Mela Segura in Cuervo, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by wife Lucille Segura, son Tom Lujan, son-in-law Gilbert Salazar, his brother Chris, Felix, Jody, Bonefacio, Domingo Segura and Sisters Chavela Valverde and Rita Chavez.
Victor was the last survivor of the Segura’s siblings. He is survived by his children Vickie Valverde and husband Bennie, Evelyn Salazar, David Segura and Wife Betty. Georgia Solano, Donna and companion Pete, Donnie Segura, Sylvia and companion Irwin. 15 Grandchildren, 20 Great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was a loving and caring father whom was cherished by all his family. He was a strong man with a big heart, who never met a stranger. In his families hearts there will never be another great man like him.
He joined the US Army in 1945 and served 4 years in World War II. One of his great accomplishments was the Lot that he built from the bottom up, and filled with all his love for his family gatherings. He only completed 8 years of school but was determined to further his education and completed his Highway Engineer Degree. He worked with the State Highway department for 25 years, he never forgot his co-workers, which he mentioned throughout his life, because he had such a great memory. He enjoyed going to the Casino and singing along with the Spanish songs and spending all his summers at the Lot, but most of all his pride and joy were all his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild.
We would like to express our special thanks to Robyn Pilley for all her care and support of our father.
Dad’s famous last words. “I am ready to go dancing and romancing.” We truly believe he is doing that now. Goodbye, Vic/Dad, you will forever be missed, but not forgotten.
