Alonzo Serna, age 87 passed away May 23 2017.
He was born in Torres, Colorado on April 4, 1930 to Vicenta (Gonzales) and Ricardo Serna who both preceded him in death.
He also joins his sister Ersie, brother Ben, and brother Joe “Spike”.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Vera (Velasquez), 3 sons David, Joe Alan, Rick(Sharon), and daughter Valerie and by sisters Amy (Albert), Vangie (Richard), Margie(Johnny), Amy Lou, Virginia (Lloyd), Kristine (Frank) and May(Richard), his 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Al was an avid outdoorsman and was most happy when hunting or fishing. He was proud to have served in the Army for his country during the Korean conflict.
Al was a hard-working man who loved all his family and was the kind of man that would do anything for anyone.
Al worked in the mine and was also a carpenter and could build or fix anything. The grandkids always joke that even if the sky was broken he could fix that as long as he had a tall enough ladder.
Friends and family will always remember him as a hard working, kind man that always spoke the truth. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 3PM-6PM at the Comi Chapel.
Rosary will be recited Tuesday May 30, 2017 at 7PM at Holy Trinity Church.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 10AM at Holy Trinity Church.
Interment will follow at the Tercio Cemetery with graveside services conducted by Ft. Carson Honor Guard.
