Ronald Joe Tafoya was born July 6, 1964 to Edward and Maxine Tafoya from Capulin, NM. Ronnie was called home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2017.
Ronnie graduated from Des Moines High School in 1982, he also joined the Army National Guard where he served his state and country proudly and retired from the guard in 2004. Ronnie also worked for Caterpillar for many years as a diesel mechanic.
Ronnie enjoyed Spanish music, country music, dancing and loved to travel. He had a passion for elderly people and would lend an ear to hear their stories. Although he never had children of his own he thought his nephew Pinon was just about it. He loved his parents, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Ronnie would give his shirt off his back even if it was the only one he had. He had a big heart and was willing to help anyone.
Ronnie battled cancer for approximately three years and never let it get him down, he fought to the end. He passed away in Denver where he called home, escorted by a legion of angels he was escorted to heaven where he will be beside his father, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ronnie is survived by his mother, Maxine Tafoya of Raton, brothers Jimmy Tafoya and wife Robin of Branson, MO. Ray Tafoya and wife Elsie of Raton and Ricky Tfoya and wife Helen of Albuquerque, NM. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Ronnie will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be Saturday February 25, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel with the Tafoya family officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Capulin.
