Manuel I. Zuniga, of Walsenburg, CO, passed away at home on February 4, 2017 at the age of 73.
He was born on September 10, 1943. in Delagua, CO, the son of Cristina (Espinosa) and Eligio Zuniga.
He attended area schools graduating from Trinidad High School in 1961.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1962-1965.
Upon his return, he attended TSJC receiving an AA in Building Trades.
Manuel was a coal miner for 18 years, having worked in the Allen Mine.
He was the Produce Manager for Super Save, Wal Mart and First Choice.
Manuel was the Head Start bus driver for 7 years but his favorite job was his last job as grounds keeper of the Walsenburg Golf Course, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.
Manuel will best be remembered for his photography of the outdoors and nature.
On November 29, 2002, Manuel was united in marriage to Jackie, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Preceding him in death are parents Eligio and Cristina Zuniga, sisters, Margaret Murillo, Rose Mary Gallegos, brothers Salvador Zuniga and Joaquin Zuniga.
Survivors are wife Jackie of home address, children, Natalie (George) Betscakos, Adam (Heather) Zuniga, Jeremy Zuniga, Matthew (Christina) Zuniga, Gina (Jason) Garlutzo, Francesa Monarco (Ken Ortiz), and their families, Lacie, Angelina, Sofia, , sisters and brothers Esperanza Santistevan, Mary Ellen (Tony) Aragon, Pete (Anna) Zuniga, Eligio (Hermina) Zuniga Jr., Joseph (Mary Susan) Zuniga, David (Tammy) Zuniga, Artero (Toni) Zuniga, Erma Abeyta, the extended Pagnotta family from Aguilar, 20 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services will be FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2017 with rosary AT 9am at the Comi Chapel with US Military Honors conducted by US Naval Honor Guard.
Funeral Mass will follow at 10AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Private inurnment at a later date.
