Jerry Stodghill, 73, passed away January 21, 2017 at home.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Shillings on February 25, 1967 in Guymon, Oklahoma.
Jerry was an educator, teaching college and GED classes in the local jail and prison system. He enjoyed teaching youth firearm safety and being a 4H leader and instructor for more than 25 years. He traveled across the state teaching 4H leaders how to instruct youth.
Jerry was also a hunter safety instructor in New Mexico and also taught Women on Target in Southern Colorado.
He attended the Santa Fe Trail Rendezvous since 1975 in Raton, NM. He enjoyed learning and educating about the pre-1840 lifestyle and history. Jerry enjoyed competing in muzzle loading and tomahawk and knife throwing, and loved the companionship of like-minded people.
An avid outdoorsman, Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, primitive camping and being out in nature.
Predeceased by father William, mother Clara Belle, daughter-in-law Lori, grandsons, Zachariah and Samuel, sisters-in-law Valerie and Teresa
Survivors are wife, Sharon, sons James, Jeremy, Jason (Ruth), and Jody (Heydi), grandchildren Elizabeth, Mikailah, Jody Jr, Jesse, sister Peggy (Jerry Wayne) Knapp, brother Billy, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 3, 2017 at 1PM at First Christian Church with Pastor Cary Nelson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Las Animas County 4H shooting sports program at Century Savings and Loan in Trinidad.
