Amelita “Millie” Marchiondo of Raton passed away January 13, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 18, 1924 to Luigi and Anna Mutton in Sopris, Colorado. Her family moved to Brilliant where she enjoyed camp life with her parents and brothers Dino and Remo Mutton. She married Joe G. Marchiondo on November 23, 1944. They were blessed to celebrate 56 years of marriage and the birth of four children. After raising her family, she and her sister-in-law, Betty Marchiondo went into to business and opened Gifts Unique in 1987. They loved and enjoyed all their customers – people they’d known forever and all the new friends they made along the way.
It’s often been said by those who loved her that they couldn’t understand how God packed that much love into one person, but He did it with Millie. She truly had one of the kindest spirits that ever lived. She was generous, loving, caring, and always made everyone feel so special. Our sweet, precious mom will truly be missed.
Millie is survived by her four children, Nancy & Tommy Thrash of Lubbock, TX, Rick & JaNee Marchiondo of Albuquerque, Randy Marchiondo & Alice Martinez of Raton, Linda Marchiondo and Sonja Chlapowski of Albuquerque, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Luigi & Anna Mutton, her husband, Joe G. Marchiondo, brothers Dino and Remo Mutton and a great granddaughter, Leigh Rose Foley.
Services will be Tuesday, January 17 . Rosary at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s – St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mass at 10:30 am with Father Bill Woytavich officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthur Johnson Memorial Library, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, or the charity of your choice.
Services and celebration of love for Amelita “Millie” Marchiondo are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
Millie was a very dear person. A woman of strength but
at the same time gentle, kind, caring. She was so proud of her entire
family but, never failed to ask about other folks’ families, too.
I so enjoyed spending time talking with her at GU.
My heartfelt sympathy and warm regards to all of you as you grieve.
