In Loving Memory of Felix August “Gus” Morelli

Felix August “Gus” Morelli, age 66, of Trinidad, Colorado, left in peace to be with the Lord December 20, 2016. 

 

Born February 7, 1950, in Trinidad, CO, Gus was the son of the late Louise and DomenicMorelli.

 

Gus graduated from T.H.S. in 1968, after several years of playing in the Mighty Miner Marching Band. He played the drums and also took according lessons with his buddy Ronnie (Umpa) Monteleone.  Gus started working with his Uncle Joe Provenzano at the age of 13, until 1986, when he took over ownership of Chief Service Station. He owned and operated the business and took care of his amazing customers. After selling the station in 1998, he started working at C & M Automative a year later, with special friends Gerald Franch and Gloria Vigil.

 

morelli gHe enjoyed working on cars and being a mechanic was his passion.  Gus also loved to spend time with his family and friends and loved to cook up something special for everyone especially his pot of sauce and homemade meatballs.  He loved to make everyone laugh and his personality would light up any room. He could always been found listening to his Italian and Doo-Wop music. Gus truly treasured life and never stopped fighting. 

 

Gus was united in marriage to Sandy Mincic in July of 1975.  This union was blessed with three amazing children who adored and loved their daddy dearly.   

 

Gus was active in his girls’ athletic and academic accomplishments at T.H.S. He served on numerous accountability and school committees. He always helped make some amazing Homecoming floats for his girls’ classes. Gus was a member of Trinidad School District #1 School Board as an elected board member. He also took great pride in coaching his daughters’ outstanding and “winning” kickball teams for several years. He was also an active member of the Lega Abruzzese Italo-Americano Lodge and was a current member of the Columbian Federation Lodge in Pueblo, CO.   

 

Gus had many close friends who he loved but what he treasured the most was his wife, three girls, his sisters Felicia and Mary, and all his fur babies.   

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Louise and Domenic Morelli, mother-in-law and father-in-law Louise and Lee Mincic, and several other loved ones.  

 

His beautiful life will be greatly missed and forever cherished in the lives of his wife Sandy and daughters Chrisi (Dan) Belger, DeAnna Morelli, and Regina (Ryan) Morelli-Low. Grandchildren Katelynn and Jamie Low.  Sisters Felicia (John) Pearce and Mary (Tyler) Haun. Sister-in-law Mary Kim Mincic and numerous special in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.   

 

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Comi Chapel with the rosary at 7:00pm at Sebastiani Gym.  Services will be held at 10:00a.m. onWednesday, December 28, 2016 at Sebastiani Gym.  His eulogy will be given by special friend David “Doc” Van Sant and youngest daughter Regina Morelli-Low. 

 

Active Pallbearers will be Adam Haun, Jim Volk, Bill Nuschy, Dick Makloski, Robert Schultz and Sonny Vensor. 

 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Pete Mincic, Dr. Larry Low, Ronnie Monteleone, Ken Lutz, Sonny Leone, Dr. Paz, Glenn Moltrer, Dean Moltrer, Ray Moltrer, Frankie Falsetto, and Duffy Blocker Jr.
