Irene Tower, age 92, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016, in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM till 8:00 PM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Hass Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 22, at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery with L. R. Haisten officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Irene Tower was born on January 16, 1924 in Merit, Texas to Christopher Minick and Mary Magdoline (Townsend) Minick. Irene married Lloyd Andrew Tower on May 17, 1941 in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on January 23, 2001. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Clayton, New Mexico and worked in the church for over sixty years as the Sunday School secretary and she served as a board member for several years. Irene loved to work in her yard, crochet for her family, bake and cook. She was very well known for her sour dough bread. Irene and Lloyd enjoyed rock hunting together. Irene also worked for the local cable company in Clayton for eleven years. In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by 1 daughter; Lorene Anell Tower in 1943, a brother; John Minick and a son-in-law; Toby Encinias, Jr.
SURVIVORS:
3 DAUGHTERS: Patricia Sewell and her husband Jack of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Dianna Brown and her husband Jeff of Kingman, Arizona and Reva Encinias of Las Vegas, New Mexico.
4 GRANDCHILDREN: Robert Foster and his wife Beverly of New Strawn, Kansas, Anna Aragon and her husband John of LeDoux, New Mexico, Lorene Swan and her husband Brian of Lemoore, California and Alex Encinias and his wife Angela of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
5 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Mikayle Foster, Donna Miller, Adam Swan, Dorothy Encinias and Genevive Encinias.
1 SISTER-IN-LAW: Jane Minick of Grand Prairie, Texas.
1 NEPHEW: Mark Minick and his wife Kim and their children Jake and Lauren all of Austin, Texas.
1 NIECE: Ashley Minick of Grand Prairie, Texas.
