In Loving Memory of Gloria (Aragon) Baca

Gloria (Aragon) Baca, 88, of Trinidad, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2016, in Olathe, Kansas.

 

Gloria (Marie Gloriette Aragon) was born on December 21, 1927, in Berwind, Colorado, to Jose Tiodosio (Joe T.) Aragon and Benita Valdez Aragon. She attended Trinidad Catholic schools and married Felisandro (Felix) Baca on July 27, 1946.

 

fullsizerender-16Felix and Gloria raised four daughters and were active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years. Throughout her life, Gloria enjoyed crocheting and many other crafts and activities. She was an excellent cook and baker, with her specialties being homemade pies, tortillas and sopapillas. Above all, Gloria was a devoted wife and mother.

 

In 2014, Felix and Gloria moved to Olathe, Kansas, to be with their youngest daughter Amanda & her family after the passing of their eldest daughter, Betty Jo, who dedicated many years to their care and well-being.

 

Gloria was a woman of great faith and was dedicated to praying for others throughout each day. Although she was quiet, she had a good sense of humor and enjoyed reading the newspaper, especially the advice column and the comics. She read daily until shortly before her passing.

 

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Robert Aragon (in childhood), one sister, Alice (Manuel) Trujillo, previously from Lakewood and Montrose, Colorado, and two daughters, Wanda Baca & Betty Jo Reinhardt.

 

She leaves behind by her husband of nearly 70 years, Felix Baca of Trinidad (& Olathe, KS); two daughters, Phyllis (Michael) Wallace of Atlanta, GA, and Amanda (Kenneth) Hukill of Olathe, KS; son-in-law, Oliver Reinhardt of Trinidad; one granddaughter, Denise (Barry) Espinoza of Denver; four grandsons, Mark Reinhardt of Trinidad; William & Austin Wallace; and Samuel Hukill. Survivors also include six great-grandchildren, Jolene, Candice, Makayla, Derek & Andrew Espinoza, Tristan Gess, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced with inurnment at Longsdale Cemetery in Trinidad.
