Zach Redd of Raton, participated for the first time this year in the Sports Riders Association of Colorado (SRAC), series of motocross and supercross races, but, at the age of eight, competed like a seasoned veteran and finished the season in second place in multiple classes and categories.
In his first year of racing, Redd competed in races that began in May 2016 and ended in October and had an amazing season of accomplishments as he finished the season with 2nd place Grand Champion (motocross and supercross combined points) in the 50cc Class 2 division (7-8 years old). He was also: 2nd place Grand Champion in the 50cc Class 5 division (4-8 years); 2nd place 50cc motocross Class 2; 2nd place 50cc motocross Class 5; 5th place 50cc supercross Class 2; and 3rd place 50cc supercross Class 5. These were amazing finishes for a first year racer, but the most rewarding accomplishment was being nominated for 2016 Rider of the Year among 3 divisions (50cc, 65cc & 85cc).
There were hundreds of participants throughout the season, but with hard work and dedication, he placed among the top riders of Colorado and surrounding areas, and had fun and made a lot of new friends along the way.
Zach is the son of Jessica Gonzales and Casey Redd, and the grandson of Jimmy and Bobbie Gonzales and Glen & Diane Redd and is the great-grandson of Bob and Bernie George.
