Joanne Butt, age 79, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, in Clayton, New Mexico.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 27, at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery with Terrell Jones, pastor of the Trinity Fellowship Church in Clayton officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Joanne Butt was born on July 22, 1937, in San Francisco, California, to Andrew Jensen and Zetta (Crews) Jensen. A longtime resident of Clayton, New Mexico, she grew up in Riverdale, California. Following her high school graduation in 1955 she attended Fresno State University where she received her bachelor degree in 1959. While in California, she was named the outstanding 4H member in the state. Joanne taught school in Fresno for a short time prior to coming to New Mexico where she was Extension Agent in Lovington prior to coming to Clayton where she worked in the Extension Office. She met Gary Butt at a county fair in Clayton and they were marred on December 28, 1962. Joanne taught PE and later Home Economics in the Clayton Schools from 1969 until she retired in the late 1990’s. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Butt, on February 15, 2007, and by her son, Andy Butt in 2014.

1 DAUGHTER: Kathryn Rathburn and her husband Scott of Riverdale, California.
Her Daughter-in-law: Holly Butt of Amarillo, Texas.
4 GRANDCHILDREN: Zachary Butt and his wife Lindsey of Canyon, Texas; Christine Price and her husband Aaron also of Canyon, Texas; Sarah Rathburn and Katie Rathburn both of Riverdale, California.
4 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: David, Brennan, Braxton and Andrew all of Canyon, Texas.
