The Raton High School homecoming festivities continued into Friday with an assembly followed by a parade down historic First Street in Raton.
The assembly crowned a homecoming king and queen out of a court of 12. Jonathan Cabriales was crowned King while Estrella Vargas was voted in as Queen. The court consisted of Daniel Rubio, Alina Pillmore, Austin Jones, Allie Irvin, King Jonathan Cabriales, Queen Estrella Vargas, Jaziah Salazar, Kallie Villagecenter, Jacob Van Sweden, Sophia Maddelini, Dillon Lemons, Camille Gonzales.
In the parade the Junior class float garnered first place with the seniors coming up second, with the freshman putting together a third place float and the sophomores whose float didn’t fair in the winds on Friday garnered a honorable mention. In the Commercial division Colfax Mora Headstart pulled in the first place ribbon followed by Eileen Gonzales Lip Sync float and Phil Long knocked out a third place finish.
Kind of sad that there was no Color Guard in the parade….The only flags I saw were on the “Class of 76” float and the Fire trucks at the end of the parade….
