In Loving Memory of Gilbert R. Sanchez

Gilbert R. Sanchez, age 72, passed away on July 3, 2016 at home.

He was born in Walsenburg, CO on January 23, 1944, the son of Rose (Martinez) and Mike Sanchez.

He attended area schools graduating from Trinidad High School in 1963.

He then attended Red Rocks Community College receiving an AA Degree.

On September 8, 1968, Gilbert was united in marriage to Yolanda Aguilar in Denver, CO.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam Conflict.

Gilbert was employed as a pipeline mechanic for the City of Denver Water Department until his retirement.

Gilbert Sanchez picHe was a creative man and was an accomplished artist which included painting and drawing, especially Indian art.

He was always busy working on and improving his home.

Gilbert was a devoted family man always, caring for his wife, children and their families. His presence in their lives will be missed.

Left to cherish his memory is wife Yolanda, home address, children Cathy (Lee) Vera, Denver, Sandra (Stan) Yoshimura, Denver,  Gilbert Sanchez Jr,Trinidad, Michael Sanchez, Denver, Lorirose Sanchez,  Denver, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, siblings Gloria Archuletta, Denver,  Louise (James) Montano, Trinidad, Bernadine (Moises) Cisneros, Trinidad,  Anna Lee Fry, Trinidad, John (Jenny) Sanchez, Pine Junction, CO,  sister-in-law Vickie Aguilar, Arkansas, brother-in-law, Anthony Marquez, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be Friday, July 15, 2016 with Rosary at 1 PM at Comi Chapel and Military Honors conducted by Ft. Carson Honor Guard.

Private family inurnment at a later date.
