Juan Lopez (Johnny) an amazing man, coal miner, electrician, plumber, salesman, junkman, carpenter, welder, mechanic and jack of all trades, was called home after a long, eventful life on June 24, 2016.
He was born in June 24, 1928 in Trinidad, CO. Johnny was the youngest boy in a family of 13. He lived his life to the fullest.
Johnny loved to travel, gamble, hunt, fish, fix anything broken or not, ride motorcycles. He was great with children and was always pulling pranks on people.
He was always laughing.
If there was a party, Johnny was there, He loved to be around people, eating and dancing the night away after beating everybody on the pool tables.
If you were in a bind, Johnny was the person to go to. No matter what the problem his theory to life was “There are no problems too big to handle, only solutions. We will make it right . If you work hard you can do anything.”
Up before the chickens, working all day into the late hours, Johnny was a very busy man .He was a man of action. A house was on fire and with no hesitation he ran into the flames and saved a baby girl’s life. Throughout the years, he saved 3 more children. A hero whom everyone loved.
His family was his life. He deeply loved his brothers and sisters. His greatest joy in life was being with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He adopted Ernestine and helped raise Donte, David, Dakota, TJ, Aaliyah and Aadriana.
The family will always remember his ear to ear smile and contagious laugh.
Preceding him in death is father Jose Dolores Lopez, mother Maria del Carmen Gonzales, siblings, Chris Lopez, Benigno Alfonso Lopez, Rebecca Lopez, Eliria Mercedes Lillian Lopez, Alfredo Lopez, Bernabe Gabriel Lopez, Alex Lopez, Eugenio Lolo Lopez, Jose Miguel Lopez, Leola Lopez, sons Ernest Ray “Pablo” Lopez , John Michael Martinez, and grandson David Allen Duran Jr.
Survivors are sisters Lucille Frances Lopez, Carmelita Maria Lopez, daughters Lorraine Reene Lopez, Delfinia Bibianita Lopez, grandchildren, Ernestine Xellina Lopez, Donte Frank Lopez, Rene Javier Tarango, Sharmain Lourdes Tarango, Cynthia Lorraine Lopez Tarango, great grandchildren, Dakota Maria Coberly, Troy John Anthony Coberly, Aaliyah Rae Neveah Lopez, Ruth Saidi, VelaTarango and Aadriana Lynn Dunn.
Military Honors will be conducted Monday , July 11, 2016 at 2PM at the Comi Chapel.
As per his request, cremation with scattering of his cremains.
People are invited to gather with the family on Monday from 4PM-6PM at the Trinidad- Las Animas County Fairgrounds for a pot luck dinner and dance.
