Leroy J. Valdez Sr., passed away peacefully on June 15, 2016 in Trinidad, CO at the age of 79.
He was born on January 27, 1937, in Trinidad to Manuel and Delicia Valdez.
He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Carmen Valdez of Trinidad.
He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Delicia Valdez, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Leroy is survived by his wife Carmen, his children, Dickie and his wife JoAnn, Leroy Jr. and his wife Ashley, Timothy and his wife Kelly, Steven and his wife Lisa, Rubyann Alfonso, and her husband Michael.
He also leaves behind his siblings, Penny Vasquez, Denver, CO, Mary Velasquez, Trinidad, CO, and Charles Valdez , White Settlement, TX, grandchildren, Jacob Valdez and his wife Shira, Joette Lawrence ad her husband Joe, Nori Valdez,, Gabriel Valdez, Kalie Martin and her husband Tyler, Kristen Alfonso, Faith Valdez , Sara and Josh, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leroy was a veteran of the Sixth Infantry Division of the United States Army.
On June 29, 1957, Leroy was united in marriage to Carmen Tamez at St. Joseph’s Church in Trinidad.
He worked as the caretaker for the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery for 50 years, retiring in 2014.
Leroy loved life. He enjoyed traveling to Cripple Creek, and watching Westerns.
He was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Leroy loved his family and will be missed.
Liturgy of the Word will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10AM at the Comi Chapel.
Inurnment will follow the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
