Robert Douglas Young, very beloved by all his family and friends, left our world after a long struggle with COPD. He was born to Joseph and Ella Young in Raton and was a 1960 graduate of Raton High School. After joining the US Army, he became a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division, serving from 1961-1964.
Bob was an avid sports fan. Among his favorite teams were the Raton Tigers and Denver Broncos. He became a Bronco season ticket holder in 1969; which he maintained for over forty years. He was very happy to witness his Broncos win Super Bowl 50. He always supported them from their beginning.
Bob enjoyed people and never knew a stranger. He always had a kind word to say about everyone. We, his family and friends, will miss him dearly. Our consolation is, he can now breathe easily without pain. We thank God for his peaceful passing.
Surviving him are his devoted wife of fifty years, Josephine (Jody) Young; sons Doug Young of Carlsbad, NM; Mark and wife Erin Young of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren Joannie Young of Natrona Heights, PA; Cade and Carter Young of Albuquerque. Surviving siblings are sisters: Jean Mobley of Maxwell, NM; Donna and husband Harvey of Amarillo, Amarillo, TX; brother Jess and wife Sonia of Bountiful, UT; sisters-in-law Judy Young of Los Alamos, NM and Ruth Anne Young of Raton. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
