Joseph R. Martinez, age 47, passed away May 27, 2016. He was born in San Gabriel, California, the son of Yolanda Martinez, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Joseph Martinez, Trinidad, Colorado.
Joey attended Special Ed schools in West Covina, California, graduated in 1992 and also attended workshop.
Joey’s pastimes were riding horses and daily walks. His favorite movie was “La Bamba”. He enjoyed 60’s music, visiting the cabin in Colorado, going fishing, vacationing with Grandpa Charlie, Grandma Jennie. When Granpa Charlie would take him for a walk to Legion Park and ride the merry-go-round, that was a secret they had.
He would also visit Grandpa Pefie and Grandma Mabel- deceased. Joey enjoyed visiting his Uncle Ron and Aunt Marcie in Cove Creek, AZ. Joey loved going to Wal-Mart to buy “one” Coca-Cola, his favorite drink.
He was such a special loving son, always giving hugs and expecting nothing in return.
Joseph Richard Martinez is survived by his Father, Joseph Martinez, Trinidad, Colorado and his Mother, Yolanda Martinez, Albuquerque, NM, Grandmother Jennie Martinez, Raton, NM, aunts, Dolores Urioste, Albuquerque, NM, Marcella and Uncle Ron Laube, Cove Creek, AZ, Phyllis Martinez, Raton, NM, Thelma and Uncle Gene, Trinidad, CO, Louise Gonzales, Trinidad, CO and many numerous cousins.
The family of Joseph R. Martinez will be receiving visitors at 312 S. 11th Ave. in Raton, NM.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 2nd, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home Chapel followed by the Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM recited by Tony Ortega. Mass of the Resurrection will be Friday, June 3rd, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Father Stephen Hickman as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial will in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Raton.
