Davida White, age 97, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center, in Pueblo, Colorado, after a brief illness.
She was born on March 19, 1919, in the mining camp of Sugarite. Davida was the only child of parents Alex and Janet Wersonick. Her father’s parents came from Germany and her mother’s parents came from Scotland. The family moved to Raton when Davida was 7 years old. She was a 1936 graduate of Raton High School. She married Sam White in 1936; they were married 52 years until his death in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons Gary and David.
Davida is survived by her daughter Janet Mozell Falletti, of Raton; her grandson Christopher (Chris) Falletti and wife Cyndi of Missoula, Montana; her granddaughter Samantha (Sam) Robinson and husband Mike, and their daughters Josie and Riley, of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Nicole, Gary, Tina, Sam, Shane, and Ryan White; and several great grandchildren. Davida is also survived by many dear friends who will miss her very much.
Davida had a long career as a hairdresser. She started training in her mother’s shop at the age of 12. Davida received her license from the New Mexico Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists. She had a passion for antiques and managed the Treasure Shop in Raton for 30 years. She was a member of the Antique Study Group of Colfax County.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Raton, where she taught the Beginners’ Sunday School Class and was Sunday School Superintendent for several years. She was a member of United Methodist Women and had a Lifetime United Methodist Women Membership pin, and at one time served as president. She was a member of Queen Esther Chapter #1, Order of the Eastern Star, in Raton, where she served as an officer several times. She was a dedicated volunteer at Miner’s Colfax Medical Center Auxiliary, for which she also served as president for two years.
Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held. Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton is in charge of arrangements.

Davida, I will truly miss you! The flower deliveries to you, were the high light of my day! She always treated me with a bag of home made goodies as my tip and she showed me all the beautiful cards she got! I hope I follow in your footsteps! Love Kathy!
Davida was the Raton matriarch……such a lovely lady and a good friend to all who knew her.
She will be missed so much. She was a special friend to us.
Samuel White passed away in 1987.
