The Raton Lady Tigers took to the softball tourney ranked second in the tourney seedings.
They easily beat Tohatchi with a 19-4 win and then went on to a pitchers duel with Capitan where it was Montana Trujillo who not only stole second but went to steal third and on an wild throw managed to make it home for the only score of the game.
The game with Loving (12-6) put the girls on the other side of the double elimination bracket and where they played Jemez Valley and shortened that game into a five inning game giving the girls a tiny bit or rest before moving on and playing Capitan once again.
The second Raton Capitan game was quite the opposite from the game earlier in the day. The afternoon game turned out to be a slug fest after both teams went scoreless in the first three innings making it look like the morning game. But the fourth inning went wild when Raton setup a six run scoring drive. Capitan said wait a minute and took off on their own rally with four runs. Raton added two more in the fifth and while holding Capitan scoreless. Capitan came back in the sixth and tied the game up at eight. All Raton had to do was come out and score a run and hold on. Raton did one better and rounded the bases twice. It was now the bottom of the seventh inning and all Raton had to do was hold on. Capitan however had other plans and managed to score not one not two but three runs to take the win ending the Lady Tigers bid for a chance at the state title.
