It is spring time in the Rockies as the ladies took to the field on a cold and breezy afternoon as Raton hosted the Lady Lions from Santa Rosa. With temps only in the low 40s and a north breeze the girls toughed it out for three innings as the Lady Tigers toppled Santa Rosa 15-0 with Camryn Mileta on the stripe.
The Lady Lions looked as though they would get the first runs of the game as they loaded the bases but a fly ball to center field where Mariah Encinias easily grabbed it for the out leaving the base runners stranded. Raton struck first as Natausha Archuleta hit big and rounded the bases to third. She later came in on errors put Raton up by one.
It was the second inning that Raton rallied and put the ball deep in the outfield bringing runners around the bases. The ladies tacked on 12 runs to make it a 13-0 game. Four and out for Santa Rosa then Raton’s Walton put one into left field and Montana Trujillo smacked one to right center, deep enough to round the base and on errors she crossed home plate to end the game on the 15 run rule.
