March 8, 2016 was the day for individuals to file their intentions to run for public office in their respective counties. Below are the listings for the four area counties of Colfax, Harding, Mora and Union. The listings are also posted on the Secretary of State web page at (Candidate Listings) The listings show state offices as well as federal offices.
In Colfax County There will be three races up for grabs the District 3 County Commissioner, County Clerk and County Treasurer. Of those the democrats will decide the winner of the county clerk’s office during the June Primary election.
In Union County the only contested race is that for county commissioner which will be a three way race with two democrats and one republican. The democrats will send one, (Garth Boyce or Van Robertson) of their candidates on to the November election to challenge Republican Carr Vincent(R)
In Harding County the District 3 commission race is the only contested race and that one will be decided in November as their is one democrat and one republican.
For Mora County the District 3 Commissioner Race will be decided in June as both candidates are Democrats. The three way race for County Clerk will also be decided in the June primary as all three candidates are also democrats.
