In Loving Memory of Joe T. Martinez

Joe T. Martinez, age 98 of Raton, passed away on March 1, 2016. He was born on July 15, 1917 in Raton to the Late Teofilo and Margarita Bernal Martinez.

Joe is survived by his wife Frances of the family home, cousins: Gloria and Ernest Tafoya of Raton, niece: Frutosa Mitchel and many more nieces and nephews.

Joe was a member of the St. Patrick’s/ St. Joseph’s Catholic parish. He served in WW2 from 1943-1946 and was a gun crewman, medium artillery in the 222 Field Artillery Battalion, 40th Infantry Division. He married the love of his life, Frances in May of 1940 in Maxwell, NM where he grew up on a ranch. Then after the war he went on to work road construction.

A viewing for Joe will be Thursday March 3rd from 2-4 pm in the Chapel of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral home. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held on Friday March 4, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 am with father John Trambley as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and Interment to take place at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements for Joe T. Martinez are under the direction of the Alderette Pomeroy Funeral home of Raton.
