Right to Try conference a resounding success

(part 1 of 2)

WJ 250x55HUERFANO — Dani and Scott Lynch, owners of the Cuchara Inn and Wellness Center, hosted the first Right to Try Conference of its kind right here in Huerfano County on February 5-7.  The caliber of speakers attending this event was quite a feat, but the Lynches pulled it off, even in the midst of a remodeling job at the inn.
Right to Try is a law providing protection from prosecution to terminal patients who try treatments not currently approved by the Food and Drug Administration as proper treatment, but are deemed “safe.”
Colorado’s Governor, John Hickenlooper, was the first to sign the Right To Try law in 2014, and since then 23 states have followed suit.
The law was spring boarded from the story of Diego, a 10 year old boy who had cancer.   According to Christina Sandefur from the Goldwater Institute who co-authored the law with Senator Irene Aguilar, MD, when Diego and his parents found out he had cancer, they were told he would die unless he did very aggressive traditional methods of treatment.  Through more conversation they discovered alternative treatments were available, but were illegal in the United States.  The family moved to England for a year so he could receive the treatments.  Diego’s story ends well and he survived, but many who did not have the means to seek alternative healing methods outside the US have not been so fortunate.  Sandefur says, “We reject having to fight the federal government to save our lives.”
There were seven speakers at the conference, but due to space constraints, we’ll list more about each of the other five speakers and what their messages are next week in part two.
Dr. Robert Scott Bell is a holistic doctor, and broadcasts seven days a week as the “voice of health freedom and healing liberty” (from his website).  He shared his personal story of ill health from youth to early adulthood with no relief until he went into holistic health.  He discovered his health sovereignty when he quit subjugating himself to those who have no clue on how to help you heal.  One form of health sovereignty is get back to basics and learn how to grow organic gardens in our yards rather than green lawns you can’t eat – that is where the medicine is.  Through his research, he has found there is no such thing as growing out of a disease – it just means you have exhausted your immune system and you are on your way to cancer.   To find out more about Bell, visit www.robertscottbell.com.
Dr. Bradford Weeks spoke on his discovery of seeds and their impact on health.  Weeks has found through research the seeds we throw away can actually be the healing agents we need to feed the body Omega 3 and other nutrients.  When we improve nutrition, we help the body fight cancer.  Cancer is only the symptom of something wrong in the body, not the source of something wrong. We need to fight the source, not the symptom.
To do so, Weeks says we should be eating every seed instead of throwing them away.  They are bitter tasting, but can be ground up and sweetened with Stevia to make them palatable.  He helped develop a nutritional supplement of whole, crushed, organic, non-GMO seeds mixed into a delicious drink.  You can find more information about Weeks at: http://weeksclinic.com/
The first Right to Try conference left everyone wanting more, and that is what the Lynches plan to do.  According to Dani, “The Cuchara Inn, in addition to housing the normal complement of Cuchara visitors, will be offering information to learn about all the other options out there – and we can support them in utilizing them.  We are not doctors.  We are people who have loved ones who were not helped by what the AMA approves, so we went outside the box to find solutions.  Our vision is to provide a wellness center for both chronic, so called “terminal” diseases, and prevention training.  We have solid protocols for RCC and Alzheimer’s.”  To contact the Lynches, call (719) 742-3685 or visit www.thecucharainn.com.
