In Loving Memory of Alex Georgieff

Alex Georgieff, age 100, of Raton passed away Wednesday February 17, 2016
in Albuquerque, NM.

 

Alex was born December 28, 1915 in Big Four Mine, CO, the son of Lazar and Frances Fisher-Georgieff.

 

georgieffHe served his country honorably as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army on the Pacific Island of Saipan during WWII, was a Chef for many years in Raton and was a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton.

 

Alex is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Effie, son Robert Georgieff,
granddaughter’s Roberta Marquez Georgieff and USAF 2Lt Dawn Georgieff
Logan, and grandson Michael Georgieff.

 

Alex is survived by sons, Louis Georgieff of San Antonio, TX, Alex Georgieff Jr. of Albuquerque, NM, Marion Georgieff and wife Gail of Alexandria, VA, and daughters, Sandra Georgieff of Albuquerque, NM and Mickie Georgieff of Albuquerque, NM. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be Thursday February 25, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at
the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home in Raton.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Friday February 26, 2016 at 9:30
AM. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton recited by Frank
Cimino Jr. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 AM with Father John
Trambley as the celebrant. Rite of Christian burial with the rendering of
Military Funeral Honors will take place at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Funeral services and celebration of love for Alex Georgieff are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.

    Georgieff was a very kind neighbor. I remember him when I was growing up in the Park Avenue neighborhood of Raton. He will surly be missed. My condolences to his family!

    Sad loss of a great neighbor and a friend to all he met. Don’t know anyone who could keep up with his walking pace. His memory will live on with all.
